For the last few years, we’ve been waiting to see if any of the smaller studio acquired by Microsoft/Xbox would bear any fruit sometime soon. Among those studios was Compulsion games, developers of such titles as We Happy Few and Contrast. And during today’s Xbox Games Showcase, we finally got see just what they’ve been working on: South of Midnight, whose debut trailer you can check out below.
While the game is described as a third-person action-adventure game, so far all we have a is a cinematic trailer with a classic Deep South setting a moody musical number, plus an animation style with what appear to be limited frames, akin to the recent Spider-Verse. We see our heroine talk to the mysterious singer (big day for small women talking to giants, it seems) about hunting down a massive monster, who just happens to show up. Now release window yet, but stay tuned for more details for SOuth of Midnight, coming to XSX and PC.
