As the premiere of Cobra Kai season 5 edges closer, fans of the show might be excited to hear season six is far from the only thing showrunners have planned, as the idea of a so-called MiyagiVerse got a boost fromThe Karate Kid star Ralph Macchio himself.
In an interview with ComicBook, both of Cobra Kai's adult protagonists, Macchio and William Zabka, discussed the show’s potential, finally putting a name to the “Karate Kid Cinematic Universe” that’s been forming since the series came out and naming some of the storylines that could come to fruition in it. For example, Macchio ponders, “Is there a Miyagi origin story? Is there a Cobra Kai prequel before The Karate Kid? Is there spin-offs with some of the young cast of these characters?”

Macchio claims the showrunners will take the opportunity to explore these concepts if given the chance. For their part, Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald and Justin Hurwitz have said numerous times that they have big plans for the franchise, with the current series expanding several seasons beyond the upcoming fifth entry, in addition to them keeping some extra ideas in store. Macchio backs ups those statements, saying there’s been writing material from season 3 that didn’t end up being used until season 4. “There's stuff that was in Season 5 that we know we shot that is being held for the future if we get that green light,” he said, meaning there’s plenty of karate action left in the valley.
