A new patch is now live for Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition on all formats, introducing significant performance improvements and other improvements.
The 1.0.1.0 patch, as promised earlier this week, introduces welcome performance improvements on PC and consoles that are quite noticeable. Alongside the performance improvements, the new patch also brings changes to the growth system for the unique character Pip and other minor, unspecified bug fixes.
Today's Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition patch comes almost a year after the game launched on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, but it's still very welcome nonetheless, as the performance issues on all formats were glaring. Unfortunately, even if the game runs much better than it did at launch, it is still far from being one of the best remasters put out by Square Enix in recent times, as it doesn't feature a huge number of improvements, as highlighted by Kai in his review.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition may be the last we hear of the series for quite some, despite a new secret that seems to suggest that some stories are still left to be told in the Chrono universe. Last year, members of the development team confirmed Square Enix had no plans to release another entry in the series, but the door wasn't closed entirely, so there's still a chance a proper third entry in the JRPG franchise will see the light of day at some point.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch worldwide. The first major patch is also live right now on all formats.
