Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone hits Kickstarter Goals in 4 Days
The Kickstarter campaign for in-development RPG Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone has succeeded, having crossed its goal in less than a week. The Kickstarter, which went live last week, has already met its goal of $97,875, and surpassed it. At the time of writing, the game’s Kickstarter campaign is sitting at $121,237 between 1,399 backers, with 24 more days to go.
While development on Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone had begun quite some time ago, some of the fan-request changes being made to the game mid-development, such as the inclusion of a first-person mode, had enough costs that the studio decided to go the route of crowdfunding.
The game has achieved two of its three goals. While the first and second goals have already been met, which means that Chernobylite 2 will feature a first-person mode and will have all of the guns from the original Chernobylite, the third stretch goal still hasn’t been met. For context, the third stretch goal will help the studio add first-person weapon customisations to the game.
Originally planned as a third-person title that would focus more on its RPG aspects than its shooter aspects, the studio behind Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, Farm 51, has sought more active feedback from its players. Part of the Kickstarter campaign is that backers would have access to earlier versions of the title, and the studio would make use of a lot more player feedback.
As an upgrade from its predecessor, Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone will have quite a few new features, including base-building, and even the addition of co-op multiplayer for specific missions that will be interspersed throughout the game’s single-player campaign.
Players will also have access to planewalking, which essentially allows them to switch up their gear as they need to take on specific situations and challenges. This means that players can be ready for more situations than a single build would typically allow.
