Following Daredevil's abrupt cancellation on Netflix's streaming service back in 2018, no one was exactly sure what Marvel planned to do next with Hell's Kitchen's favorite vigilante. When Charlie Cox «unexpectedly» returned to play the character in a brief cameo in Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, the crowd went wild.
Seeing Cox return to play Daredevil not only served as exciting fan service, it also sparked plenty of speculation about what the future held for him. Of course, Marvel Studios has been silent on what the future holds for Daredevil in the MCU, but Cox is certainly hopeful.
Is The 'Superhero Who Kills' Debate Overdone?
Cox was praised for how well he captured the essence of Matt Murdock and his alter ego when he played him from 2015 to 2018 and has openly vocalized how much he loved playing the character. So much so that when asked about him possibly being involved in the MCU's future, Cox voiced his desire to do as such. «I don’t know what their plans are, but yes, my hope is that I get to do as much as I’m allowed to do, and to be involved,» Cox said in an interview with Supernova. «The one thing that being in the MCU allows that we couldn’t really do with the Netflix stuff, is that I can now interact with other MCU characters. So, that would be really cool.»
By canonizing the Daredevil Netflix series, Marvel Studios has so many potential routes to take with his character from here on out if it involves him. Marvel Studios could bring him into some of its future films as a side character or have him be one of the leads in one of its series on Disney Plus.
