Nothing Phone 2 is going to be official any day now ever since we got to know that it will be releasing in the Summer of 2023. This makes it a great offering for those looking to upgrade to a more affordable phone that still manages to have all the cool factors attached to it. We have known that the phone is going to feature a Snapdragon 8 series processor, and today, Carl Pei has finally confirmed that it will be the revered Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in a series of tweets citing various reasons as to why the company went for the specific processor.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is an overclocked variant that is found in several flagship phones from last year. While it essentially is an older chipset, it still performs adequately in almost all the tasks you throw at it. My Galaxy S22 Ultra uses the base variant, and I have not run into a single performance hiccup. Pei suggests that the company went with that specific variant for the Nothing Phone 2 because you get a performance boost, excellent improvements across the board, a great camera, and excellent efficiency.
