Warning: contains spoilers for Captain Marvel #38!
Marvel's Captain Marvel has a very long history within comics, spanning decades — so her backstory would naturally be subject to the occasional retcon over time. In current comics continuity, Carol Danvers has begun a new story arc in which she teaches the new superhero Binary about life on Earth. Created from her own energy after being imprisoned in a space coffin by the villain Vox Supreme, Binary appears to have all the powers of Captain Marvel but no experience in using them, and Captain Marvel is forced to explain concepts like retaliation, pain, and even death. Unfortunately, Carol is mysteriously transported to an unknown location, leaving Binary to fend for herself (and learn from Spider-Woman and Hazmat in Carol's absence).
