While Captain America is an expert combatant and a physically perfect human, few fans would speculate that his speed is capable of matching DC's Superman. And yet a recent comic issue seemingly confirms that Steve Rogers is literally faster than a speeding bullet, with a move that even a Kryptonian would admire.
In Marvel Comics, Captain America is a 'peak human.' This is a technical designation which means his body operates at the best possible standards any human could reach. In durability, reaction times, physical speed, and strength, only actual superhumans can outperform Captain America. Despite this, Steve Rogers is still generally seen as an underdog hero, mostly because he's constantly surrounded by mutants, androids, and gods who it should be all but impossible for him to match, let alone lead.

And yet in Amazing Spider-Man #83 (by Patrick Gleason, Morry Hollowell, and Nathan Fairbairn) Captain America does the seemingly impossible. Meeting up with Peter Parker, who is still recovering from severe radiation poisoning, Steve Rogers helps the Web-Slinger take on a gang of robbers. When Spider-Man is overwhelmed by his condition, Captain America saves him from a bullet using his mighty shield. While the moment is notable for showing how vulnerable Peter is (the shield smacks him square in the face because Cap is so used to Peter's Spider-Sense allowing him to dodge any threat), it's actually Steve's speed that's most noteworthy in this moment.
