Promotions for have begun, with the movie confirmed to release next year. The movie will see Anthony Mackie’s MCU character take on the mantle of Captain America following the exit of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers from the franchise. Veteran thespian Harrison Ford has also been cast to play the villainous Red Hulk. The Indiana Jones star recently came out to give insight into his experience of portraying the rage-induced character.
In a recent interview, Harrison Ford stated that he adopted a don’t-care attitude in order to play Red Hulk.
While talking to Variety, Ford was questioned about his approach regarding playing a negative role in his MCU debut. The 82-year-old actor jokingly stated, “What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.”
He later clarified his stance in a serious manner, conveying, “I don’t mean to disparage it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach.” Notably, Ford was required to participate in a motion capture process to accurately portray Red Hulk in Captain America 4.
In a separate discussion with Screen Rant, the Star Wars actor levied praise on the effective functioning of the MCU. “It’s a whole different cut of cloth, isn’t it?” Ford expressed. “Free of some normal constraints to the imagination. It’s delightful to deal with and it’s fun,” he added.
Harrison Ford is taking over the role of Thunderbolt Ross / Red Hulk from William Hurt, who tragically passed away in 2022. He will be aided by Giancarlo Esposito, who has been revealed to be taking on the antagonistic role of Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World. The movie is scheduled to come out in theaters on February 14, 2025.
