Can The Umbrella Academy’s real Ben return in season 3? In season 2, Ben’s ghost saves Vanya and moves on to the afterlife, finally at peace after so long. However, The Umbrella Academy season 3 sees the return of Ben — alive and well and a member of the Sparrow Academy, a new group of super-powered people who were adopted by Reginald.
The Hargreeves siblings have a lot to contend with in season 3. After returning from 1963, they quickly realize things are not what they seem. In fact, they were never adopted by Reginald as babies at all and Ben is back and the leader of the Sparrow Academy. As it turns out, a paradox is swallowing things. With another timeline issue they created that needs urgent fixing, the Hargreeves have but a few days to fix everything before all of existence is completely wiped out. No pressure. In The Umbrella Academy season 3 trailer, Diego asks the Sparrow Academy version of Ben if he could bring the old Ben back by killing this new iteration. Could the real Ben actually return?

The Umbrella Academy’s protagonists have messed with the timeline enough times that it could be possible for the original Ben to return in some capacity. If the Hargreeves fix the paradox they created after returning from 1963, they could somehow change the past again so that Ben never died like he did in the original timeline. If Diego kills the alternate version of Ben, he could simply create a ghost Ben situation, which would be akin to the original timeline as well. It wouldn’t be the original Ben, of course, but killing Sparrow Academy Ben could reset the real Ben’s existence, especially since his being alive in this alternate reality is in and of
