If Bray Wyatt, formally of WWE—real name Windham Rotunda—turns up in AEW or IMPACT, it won't be due to a lack of money. Wyatt was released by WWE in late July of 2021, reportedly due to budget cuts, and he immediately began to tease a return to in-ring action via a countdown on his social media handles. That hasn't come to fruition yet, however, and the 34-year-old hasn't wrestled a match since losing to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 37. He appeared on the following night's edition of Monday Night Raw, but that's the last fans ever saw of The Fiend on WWE TV.
Whenever a free agent of Wyatt's caliber is available, their name will continue to be churned through the rumor mill until they actually turn up. With AEW snapping up talent left and right and IMPACT picking their spots, fans have been awaiting a return of some version of The Fiend since last fall. Yet he still hasn't popped back up, the reasoning for which might have been made clear through a recent report concerning his financial situation.

Back in April, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Wyatt's asking price «is very high.» Circling back on that a bit, a recent edition of the WON noted that Wyatt «was believed to be the third or fourth highest paid (sic) performer on the [WWE] roster with a contract in the $4 million per year range at the time he was cut and was a major merchandise draw.» Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co also conveyed that an acquaintance of Wyatt indicated to him that «He is very good with his money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he never came back [to wrestling].»
