Brawlhalla hasreleased a new game mode in Patch 7.04 called Nightmare Horde Mode. This mode is a more challenging version of Horde Mode and is meant for experienced players who want to test their skills, though it is available for Brawlhalla beginners as well. According to the developers, Nightmare Horde Mode is the game's first increased difficulty variation of a game mode.
In Brawlhalla's standard Horde Mode, players battle against legions of gargoyles that come in waves. They must work with other players or bots to defend two gates from the enemies, and it can be played both online and offline. If players are able to survive 25 waves of gargoyles, they get the challenging achievement «To Hell and Back.»

Nightmare Horde Mode, on the other hand, is meant to be an extremely difficult version of the original game mode for Brawlhalla players, with gargoyles coming in much greater numbers much more quickly. The rules of the game mode are the same, but the new variation has new designs for the gargoyles and a new variation of Demon Island. Making it through the waves of enemies is significantly more challenging than in the original Horde Mode.
Along with the new game mode, Patch 7.04 included some other major updates to Brawlhalla. Some of these updates included new Mallhalla items, such as a new West Cassidy and a faint emote, which shows characters putting their hand over their head and falling comically to the ground. Developers also decided to remove the longer dodge cooldown from the test features, because it was too difficult for players and negatively affected gameplay.
