Summer Game Fest is right around the corner, and with the clock counting down, the lineup of games that will be showcased at the event is continuing to fill out more and more with each passing day. Last month, it was confirmed that 2K would be unveiling the next instalment in one of its biggest and most beloved franchises at the show, and it seems the beans have now been spilled on what that’ll be.
Known leaker Kurakasis has taken to the Exputer forums to claim that Borderlands 4 is going to be unveiled at Summer Game Fest. Many had speculated that 2K would be unveiling either the next Mafia game or a new BioShock instalment, but apparently, those franchises are going to have to wait their turn for now.
Borderlands developer Gearbox Entertainment was acquired by 2K from Embracer Group earlier this year in a deal worth $460 million. 2K has, of course, been the publisher of the Borderlands franchise since its inception. Upon acquiring the developer, 2K confirmed that Borderlands 4 was in active development.
It’s been confirmed that Summer Game Fest, which premieres on June 7 at 2 PM Pacific, is going to be two hours long. It will feature announcements for Metaphor: ReFantazio, Monster Hunter Wilds, Alan Wake 2, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, and more.
