The official poster for the upcoming season finale of The Book of Boba Fett brings together a staggering twenty-five characters, suggesting the ambitious scale of the episode. Originally announced as a spinoff at the end of The Mandalorian season 2, The Book of Boba Fett follows the eponymous former bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison) and the assassin Fennec Shand (Ming Na-Wen) as they take over Jabba the Hutt’s criminal empire on Tatooine. The first four episodes of the series largely spanned two timelines, flashbacking to what happened to Fett after he escaped the Sarlacc pit while, in the present, Fett and Shand deal with threats to their power in Mos Espa. Though the series greatly expanded on the bounty hunter’s character in these episodes, many fans found Boba Fett underwhelming.
However, that all changed when episode 5, “Chapter 5: Return Of The Mandalorian,” was released, and fans were surprised with what was in all but name the first episode of The Mandalorian season 3. Establishing what the bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) had been up to since delivering Grogu to Luke Skywalker, episode 5 was an exciting one, rich with Star Wars references and Easter eggs that pushed Fett out of his own show. Episode 6, “Chapter 6: From The Desert Comes A Stranger,” took this even further, bringing many fan-favorite Star Wars characters together from all different properties, including Clone Wars bounty hunter Cad Bane’s first live-action outing. With the last two chapters straying so far from Boba Fett’s established story, fans have been wondering how the season finale will tie all these characters and storylines together.
