Warning! SPOILERS for The Book of Boba Fett.
The Book of Boba Fett managed to deliver a fine series out of a backdoor pilot, something many shows tried and failed to achieve, and something the MCU could learn from. The series evolved after Boba Fett was featured in The Mandalorian season 2, with a cliffhanger showing Boba killing Bib Fortuna and taking over the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt. Introducing a backdoor pilot in this way was a risky move, but The Book of Boba Fett managed to make it work by introducing the character in an organic way and featuring a crossover with Mando, Grogu, and the gang.
Boba Fett was thought dead after the events of Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi. However, the character reappeared in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 6 in search of his old armor and later helped Mando and Grogu. From there, he remained allies with the Mandalorian and even reunited with him in his own series, The Book of Boba Fett. This series outlined Boba's rise to the top of the Tatooine underworld and his past spent with a Tusken Raider tribe. Eventually, Mando was brought back for a final battle against the Pyke syndicate, and two episodes were heavily devoted to him, Grogu, and even Luke Skywalker.
