Launch day for the Japanese version of Blue Protocol is here, and a number of issues have been the cause of ongoing downtime as Bandai Namco continues updating the community on the work it's doing to get all the issues fixed.
When an MMORPG launches, many of us know to expect that things won't necessarily go as smoothly as we would hope for in an ideal situation. Bandai Namco updated after launch that the load on the game servers was soaring. Those who were using Bandai Namco IDs to log into the game were unable to log in or things were hanging.
This is not unexpected for a launch, especially when it's a game that's getting a lot of attention, but the team's efforts to reduce the overall load by working on server infrastructure changes, was insufficient.
Another issue turned up when the team made the in-game Regnas store live, Only to later confirm that there were some significant issues with certain payment methods. They stopped purchases to investigate the issues. The team issued another notice that there was a solution to the payment issue and they decided to restart the game after that.
However, things haven't been going smoothly. While the Japanese Blue Protocol team continues to work on the issues facing the servers, after additional issues, they still remain dedicated to not wiping things and allowing those who were able to get in and make any progress to keep it.
