Anticipation for Black Myth: Wukong was high in the lead up to its release, and since launch, the action RPG’s sales have certainly reflected the same.
As reported by journalist Dean Takahashi on Twitter, former PlayStation CEO Ken Kutaragi recently revealed on-stage at Tokyo Game Show that Black Myth: Wukong sold over 20 million units within its first month of release.
That makes the Game Science-developed action RPG one of the fastest-selling games ever made. For comparison’s sake, Hogwarts Legacy took nearly a year to reach 22 million units sold (and currently stands at over 24 million units sold), while The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold 20.28 million units in over a year, and both were the two best-selling games of 2023.
Black Myth: Wukong was confirmed to have sold 10 million units worldwide upon release. Shortly afterwards, it was confirmed that its sales had hit 18 million units within two weeks of launch. Game Science is currently also working on an expansion for the title.
Black Myth: Wukong is available on PS5 and PC.
