Not that it should come as too big a surprise, but Resident Evil 4 is doing very well for itself. The remake is unanimously regarded as a superb reimagining of a classic, but as well as being a critical success, it's quickly become a commercial one, too.
In a short statement, publisher Capcom has revealed the game has sold over 3 million copies in its first two days on the global market. To make a comparison, Resident Evil Village managed the same milestone in its opening four days, while the remake of Resident Evil 2 sold as many in its first week. Resident Evil 3, meanwhile, sold 2 million within five days of launch. The latest entry is trending slightly ahead of the curve, then.
Capcom has also provided an update on the cumulative shipments of the entire series — this figure, accurate up to 31st December 2022, currently sits at 135 million units. The publisher calls Resident Evil its «flagship game series», which is hard to argue with at this point.
