The premiere of Big Brother 24 showed Daniel Durston become the season's first Head of Household, but Daniel's game plan could collapse into shambles come eviction night. Daniel is a 35-year-old musician from Ontario, California, and is a Big Brother superfan. He has a background in musical theater and has toured with notable artists like Victoria Justice, but he currently works as an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas.
Daniel's Big Brother 24 journey began with footage of him crying in awe in the Diary Room as he realized he was about to live his dream. He then won one of the three heats of the first Head of Household competition. Daniel continued on to the final round against Monte Taylor and Matthew «Turner» Turner, where the three men were tasked with completing a puzzle of a drum kit. No stranger to musical instruments, Daniel pulled out the win and became the season's first HOH.

Daniel has taken a cautious approach to his reign as Head of Household, but he could face major obstacles on eviction night. On the live feeds, Daniel had measured conversations with many of the houseguests, but unlike many former first Heads of Household, Daniel didn't become part of a large alliance. Perhaps reluctant to repeat the infamously disastrous reign of Big Brother 23's first HOH, Brandon «Frenchie» French, Daniel instead made several individual connections and ultimately nominated Michael Bruner and Terrance Higgins, citing their lack of strategic communication with him.
