Fans can rejoice that their favorite blue furball is back in Sonic The Hedgehog 2, out in theaters April 8, and he's brought a few more friends with him this time around. Not only are Sonic (Ben Schwartz, Parks and Recreation) and Tom (James Marsden, Westworld) growing closer than ever, but now his iconic sidekick Tails (played by longtime voice actor Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and known nemesis Knuckles (Idris Elba, The Suicide Squad) are in the mix to up the ante.
We spoke with Schwartz and Marsden about the Easter eggs that made it into the film and those that didn't, the joys of getting a vacation for work, and their personal hopes for the future of the franchise.

Screen Rant: I love this movie. I think it's bigger and even better than the previous one, and I have to call out one of my favorite references really quick. We got a nice Jean-Ralphio Easter egg.
Ben Schwartz: Oh, my goodness, we sure did. And animated exactly as I did in the booth, which, shout out to the animators.
What other Easter eggs are your favorites that you think fans should watch out for? There's quite a few in this movie. I was jotting them down like crazy.
James Marsden: I did a couple of X-Men Cyclops things...
Ben Schwartz: He doesn't stop talking about X-Men!
James Marsden: There were a couple of 27 Dresses and Bridesmaids things that I did [that got cut]. We didn't have [a lot of] time, and the movie was getting close to two hours. There's a Westworld thing...
Ben Schwartz: There was a scene where they go, «Hey, what do you want? Do you want a coffee or something?» And he goes, «I don't know, I guess a 27 Dresses...» Like, what? «Cut!»
James Marsden: It didn't
