Actress Leslie Grace makes an official statement on the shocking cancellation of the Batgirl movie, which she would have starred in as Barbara Gordon. One of Warner Bros.' most highly anticipated upcoming DC films was Batgirl. Directed by Ms. Marvel's Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl would follow Barbara's origin story in becoming the titular Gotham City vigilante. Michael Keaton was set to co-star as Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, after making his return through The Flash movie.
Batgirl finished principal photography on March 31 and was in post-production, eying a supposed 2022 release on HBO Max. However, in an unexpected move that shocked Hollywood, Warner Bros. Discovery made the controversial decision to cancel the Batgirl movie. Not only will Batgirl not head to HBO Max, but the studio has no plans to release it in theaters either. In the last 24 hours since the news was confirmed, fans and industry figures alike have shared their thoughts on the surprise call from Warner Bros. Discovery to ax the DCEU film.
