Lead actor Leslie Grace has broken her silence about the project’s end in a new Instagram post, which includes some behind-the-scenes videos and images taken on the sets of the DC film. While she was very excited to don the catsuit, she had to bid farewell to her character before it was even allowed to meet fans.
News of the Batgirl movie being canceled came as a shock to DC fans and even the directing duo Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah were surprised and “saddened.” Batgirl has remained a popular character in the DC Comics, with a rather large fan following. She has been adapted for films and television several times in the past, but this was going to be her first solo project. However, it seems like Warner Bros. didn’t like the direction it was taking, as the film moved into post-production, and pulled the plug because it did not align with their vision.

Taking to Instagram, Grace revealed her feelings about losing out on the opportunity to bring Batgirl to life once again. Despite the film’s cancellation, the actor remained graceful in her words, and thanked the crew for all their hard work. “I am proud of the love, hard work and intention all of our incredible cast and tireless crew put into this film over 7 months in Scotland. I feel blessed to have worked among absolute greats and forged relationships for a lifetime in the process,” she wrote.
