Bank Holidays in October 2022: The festival of lights- Diwali is just around the corner and the 5 days celebration will start with Dhanteras. It can be known that Dhanteras will be celebrated on both 22nd and 23rd of October. But, here is an important update for bank customers. Due to the festivities and other occasions, banks will remain closed for six consecutive days starting tomorrow (Saturday), October 22, 2022. Meanwhile, online or internet banking will remain operative 24x7.
People who have to complete banking activities like depositing money, updating passbook, transferring amount, among others will have to wait for October 28 to get their work done. Also, the list of bank holidays is released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and as per the information the bank holidays in October fall under three categories- Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Accounts. Here is when and why banks will remain shut for the 6 coming days.
Bank Holidays
1. Saturday, October 22, 2022: Banks will remain shut on Saturday October 24, 2022 as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
2. Sunday, October 23, 2022: Banks will remain shut on October 23, 2022 as it is Sunday.
3. Monday, October 24, 2022: Banks will remain shut in all parts of the country except for Gangtok, Hyderabad, and Imphal due to the celebration of Kali Puja/Deepavali/Diwali (Laxmi Pujan)/Naraka Chaturdashi.
4: Tuesday, October 25, 2022: Due to the occasion of Laxmi Puja/Deepawali/Govardhan Pooja, banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, and Jaipur.
