We have witnessed multiple astronomical events this year, ranging from the five-planet alignment, the passage of an interstellar comet, two meteor showers as well as the blood Moon and the Hunter's Moon. But the show is not over. On October 25, the Earth will witness the second and the last partial solar eclipse of 2022. The solar storm will be best visible in parts of Western Russia, Kazakhstan and in some parts of India. However, many places in India and the world will also miss out on this grand spectacle. But do not worry, for all the astronomy enthusiasts, there is a way to watch the eclipse online for free. Read on to know how to watch it.
According to a PTI report, the solar eclipse will be visible in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Ujjain, Varanasi and Mathura. However, the solar eclipse will be most visible in Dwarka for around 1 hour and 45 minutes. In New Delhi, the eclipse will begin at 4:29 PM and continue until 6:09 PM. Mumbai will witness it starting at 4:49 PM, whereas Bengaluru and Chennai will see it at 5:12PM and 5:14 PM respectively. The rest of central India will see it right before the sunset. Kolkata will only get to experience it just 11 minutes before the sunset.
As you can see, a majority of the country will not see the beautiful yet haunting sight of the solar eclipse. And even the ones that do, will not get a close up view of the Sun. If that is something you're interested in, then The Virtual Telescope Project 2.0 is going to host a free livestream where it will capture a detailed view of the solar eclipse. The eclipse will be filmed from Rome, Italy and can be watched either on the official website or its YouTube channel.
The stream will begin at 2 PM IST on October 25.
