October was a great month for sky-watching, but November will be even more exciting. This month, skywatchers will be mesmerized, not with just one or two, but as many as six celestial events. Fascinating events such as the Taurids Meteor Shower, total lunar eclipse of 2022, new moon, and more are in offing. If you are excited to see the sky with these rare events, then get ready with your telescopes or binoculars. First of all, know what all is lined up in this month for skywatchers.
The month will begin with its first show of the long-running Taurids meteor shower, which will peak on the night of November 4, that is today. However, it is going to be a massive shower as you can expect only 5-10 meteors an hour at peak, the Weather. com report mentioned.
One of the biggest sky-watching moments of this month is the total lunar eclipse which is set to light up the skies on November 8. This will be a rare moment as the next total eclipse is not expected before 2025. It will be a blood-red moon full eclipse. Sadly, most parts of India will not be able to watch the total lunar eclipse.
On November 9, Uranus will make its closest approach, which will make it look brighter in comparison than at any other time. The good part is that it will be visible through the night of November 9. However, it will only appear as a tiny blue-green dot.
The Leonids meteor shower, radiating from the constellation Leo, will be at its peak during November 17 or 18. The Leonids peak during mid-November each year, are considered to be a major shower.
On November 23, it will be the day for a new Moon, which takes place when the Sun, Moon and Earth are closely aligned in a way that only the dark side of the Moon faces the Earth.
