Critics’ reviews for Obsidian Entertainment’s long-awaited Avowed are live alongside a new launch trailer. While the action RPG isn’t available until next week, Premium Edition owners can start playing now courtesy of advanced access.

Of course, you must spend $89.99 for the same, though it includes a digital art book, the original soundtrack, and two premium skin packs for your companions. Regarding the critical reception, Avowed has an 80 Metacritic score on Xbox Series X/S based on 58 reviews, while the PC version has a 79 Metascore from 49 reviews.

Avowed launches on February 18th for both platforms. It will also be available on Game Pass (and, strangely enough, through Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net). Head here for more details on its Quality, Performance and Balance modes on consoles.

You can also check out extended gameplay here to learn more about the progression, abilities, and combat. As for playtime, Obsidian promises an experience that’s roughly as long as The Outer Worlds.

RPG UPS Avowed Reviews Are In, But The Scores Fall Short Of Obsidian's Other Great RPGs

Ahead of the full release of Obsidian Entertainment's new RPG, on February 18, reviews for the game have dropped — and while they're trending mostly positive, the aggregate score does fall notably short of the developer's past work. First revealed in 2020, takes place in the fantasy world of Eora, the same setting as Obsidian's games, but doesn't function as a direct sequel. Instead, diverges from the CRPG approach of to adopt gameplay more similar to something like, or a Bethesda RPG.
