What seemed just like another superhero film with 2008's Iron Man would eventually grow into one of the most popular franchises of all time that has now resulted in 27 films and five series all in one shared universe. Now that universe seems to be growing, as a new Avengers trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may already be developing.
The MCU has now reached its fourth phase, one filled with plenty of exciting additions that continues to expand on a cosmic level. Now, after Avengers: Endgame marked the culmination of the Infinity Saga as a crossover film that saw the end of many character arcs and storylines, a new Avengers trilogy will supposedly center on the Secret Wars comic.
Avengers 5 Is Already Underway, According To Marvel Boss Kevin Feige
The rumor, according to Moth Culture's Twitter, suggests the nextAvengers trilogy could potentially adapt the Secret Wars storyline. For those who are unaware, Secret Wars featured a wide array of characters, as seen in previous Avengers films, but on a much bigger scale, as heroes and villains (yes, including the X-Men) from separate universes unite for battle on a new world called Battleworld. The heroes would most likely be seen battling villains like Magneto, Dr. Doom, and the Kang the Conqueror (who was first hinted at in Loki and will appear in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania).
While this rumor is of course not confirmed, the storyline would make sense in terms of where the MCU is headed and how the introduction of the multiverse has been a big story element of the recent films and series.
