A massive collection of more than 30,000 vintage DC Comics and Marvel Comics issues is up for auction in Newcastle. Many comics have high historic value as they feature the first appearances of characters such as Daredevil.
For nearly 30 years, Anderson & Garland have been selling rare comic collections, estimating more than 100,000 comics per year. As the head of the Picture Department, John Anderson has a lot of insight into the value of the comics that come through the auction, having earned an Honors degree in fine art.

As originally reported by Chronicle Live, Anderson & Garland Auctioneers is the biggest comic book auction in Newcastle, containing over 30,000 valuable comics including titles such asThe Avengers, Batman, Spider-Man, Moon Knight, and many more. On February 15th and 16th, the auction which will take place at the Westerhope auction house will be open to interested buyers from across the world. Speaking on the upcoming auction, Anderson said, “In an average sale we have around about 30,000 comics, we're expecting Daredevil No. 1 to be the most popular comic in this latest auction simply because it's a major Marvel character and it's a number one, that's going to make at least two or three thousand pounds.”
Although the auction contains comics of intensely high value, Anderson said that the lowest price tends to be around 25-30 pounds. At a previous auction, the first appearance of Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962) sold for 37,000 pounds. The valuer stated that it was “the world’s most expensive comic,” particularly when it is found in good condition. The copy sold through Anderson & Garland was only rated a 4.5 out
