Destiny 2's The Witch Queen is a few days away, and the expansion will bring much-needed changes to old systems of the game and brand-new things to look forward to, such as the rebalancing of Void subclasses and weapon crafting. Among the things that are changing, Bungie announced a while back that Gambit would take a pass before Season 16 and The Witch Queen launched, but not a complete overhaul to change it from the ground up. The idea was to make Gambit more akin to the current state of Trials of Osiris, and today's TWAB solidifies that image.
Bungie details all the changes that Gambit is getting with Destiny 2's upcoming update, starting from the premises for why some aspects were reworked and expectations. For starters, Gambit will now get a Freelance node that will allow players to join the queue completely solo and avoid stacks of four, much like Trials of Osiris. Another significant change is that players will only drop half their Motes on death, but they can be picked up by anyone — including invaders. Bungie also encourages team play by making revives more timely, which is good.

One of the notions about the Gambit rework is that the activity should escalate in difficulty when invaders or the Primeval are present, and killing them should feel like beating a hard Nightfall. This translates into shields being harder to break with non-matching weapons, some Blockers being harder to kill or getting a new attack, and the Primeval itself being much more challenging than before.
