It only took three days of around-the-clock work for the Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG teams to open up more European servers for players of Lost Ark. On Valentine's Day the teams announced that due to the overwhelming demand of players logging into the game, they were forced to create not just one new server, but an entirely new region of servers.
The free-to-play MMO ARPG launched last Friday to a number of bugs and queue lines that lasted several hours. Based on the surge and subsequent fallout, it appears as if the two companies underestimated the number of fans wanting to explore the lands of Arkesia in Lost Ark.
Lost Ark Player Makes To-Do List for Those Who Have Hit Level 50
Amazon recently shared that as of February 14, it had already accumulated 4.7 million new registered players in the west alone (55% from North America and 45% from Europe). Those numbers don't include the millions who have been playing in South Korea since the end of 2019.
The new region, Europe West, opened earlier today with eight servers (Rethramis, Tortoyk, Moonkeep, Stonehearth, Shadespire, Tragon, Petrania, Punika). By opening these new servers Smilegate RPG says they expect «to reduce, not eliminate» the incredibly long queue times for Europe Central. It promises to add more servers if needed, based on population levels. Players may need to reboot the client before they can see the new list of servers.
But before deciding to call the new Europe West region home, there are a few things to be aware of. Players will still be able to use Royal Crystals and Crystalline Aura but any redeemed, claimed, or acquired items will not transfer over.
