At least two new Avatar: The Last Airbender games are reportedly in development, at least according to a recent insider account. Nickelodeon’s popular Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel series The Legend Of Korra wowed viewers young and old with their imaginative setting, memorable characters, and a surprisingly deep plot, and the idea of an expansive video game set in Avatar's setting has caught fans' attention for some time. Even years after The Legend Of Korra aired its final episode in 2014, the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise remains extremely popular with animation enthusiasts, and Paramount is currently producing a live-action adaptation of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender in association with Netflix.
Likewise, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend Of Korra have had multiple tie-in video games over the years, although most of them have received mixed reviews at best. The last console title was a Legend Of Korra beat-em-up by Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames for the PS4 and Xbox One back in 2014, while the Nintendo 3DS received a strategy-RPG in the style of Fire Emblem. Recently, Square Enix’s new London-based mobile game division is said to be working on an Avatar: The Last Airbender mobile game, a tabletop RPG set in the world of the original series broke its own Kickstarter goal within a day of going live last summer, and multiple characters like Aang, Toph, and Korra were featured as playable fighters in the Super Smash Bros.-style Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
