The Embracer Group has just completed its acquisition of Dark Horse Media, opening the door to possible AAA video game adaptations of the publisher's biggest properties — including Hellboy. Embracer, a European video game company, has acquired many developers over the past few years, including Biomutant studio THQ Nordic, Deep Silver of Dead Island fame, and Saber Interactive, developer of the upcoming Evil Dead: The Game.

The publisher has also produced comics based on video game franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, and even published an English translation of The Legend Of Zelda: Hyrule Historia — a guidebook that chronicled the lore and timeline of Nintendo’s Zelda series. Some of Dark Horse’s works have spawned video game adaptations of their own, such as the crossover series Alien Vs. Predator, but it's arguably properties and characters like the ever-popular Hellboy that many fans are hoping to see star in their own video game.
