Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the biggest franchises to come from Nickelodeon. There have been many discussions regarding Avatar’s transition to video games, with some even going the extra mile as to create their own within other titles such as Dreams. Avatar has dabbled in the realm of video games while the series was still airing, with games based on specific seasons of the show, as was par the course for many licensed games that were being published at the time. However, fans have become attached to the idea of a modern AAA Avatar game, and if recent reports are to be believed, they may be getting their wish soon.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Console RPG and MMORPG Reportedly in Development
According to the fan website AvatarNews.co, a variety of Avatar video games are in development under the leadership of Avatar Studios, the newly created production company headed by series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The two were previously serving as showrunners for Netflix’s live-action remake of The Last Airbender, before departing the project due to creative differences with the company. Thus, the duo instead partnered with Nickelodeon to create Avatar Studios as a means to create new stories within the Avatar universe
