Stephen Colbert is teaming up with Matthew Mercer and the cast of Critical Role to once again play Dungeons & Dragons to raise money for Red Nose Day. Critical Role is a successful live-play D&D game run by Matt Mercer, a voice actor well-known for his roles as Mccree in Overwatch and Captain Levi from Attack on Titan. The rest of the cast also consists of professional voice actors, whose roleplaying skills are a major contributing factor to the show's popularity.
This is not Colbert's first venture into Dungeons & Dragons. Colbert, who is known for being a fantasy buff with a deep love of J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord of the Rings, played earlier editions of the tabletop RPG in his youth before it became as widely known and mainstream as it has become in recent years. It is, however, only his second time playing Dungeons & Dragons on camera. The first time was also with Matthew Mercer as Dungeon Master, in which the Late Show with Stephen Colbert hosted a short segment in which they played a brief one-on-one game to raise money for Red Nose Day.

Now Mercer and Colbert are playing together for a good cause once again, but more of the cast of Critical Role will be joining them this time. A recent article by Comicbook covered the story, sharing that the adventure, called Choose Stephen Colbert's Adventure...Again, will air on April 28th at 7 pm Pacific time. Fans can influence certain aspects of the game by donating to the Red Nose Day charity, which raises funds each year to support children in need.
