The PS Plus Essential games lineup for August has been announced, and as always, subscribers to Sony's base tier are getting access to three additional titles starting from next week. The question, though, is whether this month's trio will be better received than last month's rather disastrous combination. Over 50% of Push Square readers rated it «crap», for the record.
So what's in store for August? Well, honestly, we can see these games being pretty divisive as well. The headliner is obviously the very robust LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. It's joined by the jump-scary Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and highly rated Metroidvania Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. It's a varied selection, at least!

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
My subscription ran out a few months back but after these games were announced I quickly didn't renew it
I like some metroidvanias, and haven't even heard of this one, but the other two, I am so very tired of Lego games and not interested in FNAF whatsoever. Although, of course, adults can enjoy these two latter titles, I feel it's rather poor to include two games out of three that were made with children in mind.
Not a good month, but I have cat quest 3 next week. Here's hoping extra and premium is good.
Time to catch up on the backlog
