Catching a Ditto in remains one of the most unique tasks in the game, made even greater by the rarity of the Generation 1 Normal-type. Like in other games, Ditto also hides its true identity in, using different disguises each time you encounter it. This makes catching the Pokémon even harder than usual as it will never appear in sight on the map; instead, it hides behind another Pokémon's identity, making luck a much greater factor when capturing it than other types.
Ditto can transform into other Pokémon; however, the lineup doesn't change as often. The lineup updates a few times a year, meaning you can still catch the Pokémon you planned to catch last month. While the latest season of , Max Out, has now launched, many of the elements of the game have stayed the same, such as the method required to obtain a Ditto.
The popular Dragon/Ghost-type Dreepy is finally making its Pokémon GO debut, meaning you can also get its powerful final evolution Dragapult.
This month in, the Pokémon that Ditto used to disguise in August 2024 hasn't changed. That means there are still 11 Pokémon that it can hide behind that you need to look out for. This includes Gen 1 favorites Oddish, Koffing, Goldeen, and Rhyhorn. The transforming Pokémon can also be found, looking likeStufful, Spinarak, Bergmite, Gothita, Solosis, Numel, and Bidoof. If you catch one of the above Pokémon, there is a chance it could then change into Ditto.
The only way you can identify that you have caught a Ditto is when the Pokémon responds with the text, " "
Ditto has a lower catch rate than most of these eleven Pokémon, so if you are struggling to catch one, that increases the chance it will transform. Hence, it is a good idea to use Berries and better PokéBalls to ensure it doesn't run away.
While Ditto's are very rare, and there is no way to increase their individual spawn rates, you can use regular Incense or your Daily Adventure Incense to increase the overall number of spawns in your nearby location.
