This week in The War Within, there's a new pinnacle quest replacing the choice of four activities offered last week! Archives: The First Disc continues the story of High Speaker Brinthe and Dagran, asking players to obtain disc fragments from dangerous creatures, rare mobs, and treasures throughout Khaz Algar.
The quest requires obtaining 100 Titan Disc Fragment, dropped by a wide range of enemies including those in dungeons, so it shouldn't be too hard to finish. Players can also loot treasures throughout Khaz Algar, with interactable objects like Disturbed Earth giving one per.
As it stands, dungeons seem to be the most efficient way of quickly farming the items, with follower and heroic dungeons both awarding 15 per boss, though doing any activity while simply playing the game will undoubtedly complete the quest over time.
Last week, The Call of the Worldsoul instead gave players a choice between four pinnacle activities, awarding the same Pinnacle Cache, but it appears this is not completely static as the story narrative has moved forward.
Completing Archives: The First Disc awards the same Pinnacle Cache, which works a bit differently than that of previous expansions. The first two caches earned from any weekly events including this quest award a piece of Adventurer piece gear, while the first four award a Restored Coffer Key for increased rewards from Bountiful Delves, and any completed beyond that offer only minor farmable rewards.
Blizzard previously explained at length their reasoning for this change, intending to give players more agency in what activities they complete each week. While this week's story quest does remove a bit of that choice, it isn't a complete reversal of that position; players aren't required to complete The First Disc for their reward per se, as they could go complete any other activity for that weekly reward instead.
