Reddit user No_Wave_8516 shared their accidental finding in a post, showing thatphoto mode is a great way to avoid being bitten. When a scorpion began running toward the player with their net in their hand, they said " But instead of getting bit, photo mode saved them.
In the clip attached to the Reddit post, the scorpion is clearly trying to attack the player, scuttling at their feet, but despite being within range of biting the player, they avoided being bitten, presumably because of photo mode.After running around for a bit with photo mode still open, they managed to move out of the scorpion's range, where they then deactivated photo mode and snagged it for themselves.

For starters, the best way to get a scorpion or a tarantula to leave a player alone is to equip any item except the net. These bugs will only move to attack the player if they have the net equipped, and they'll actually run away if the player has the shovel out and ready to use. That said, if the player has already tried (and failed) to catch the aggressive critter, it will not stop its pursuit until it has attacked the player.
Some players have found other workarounds to being chased by scorpions and tarantulas, including the well-known fossil glitch.
