The Amazfit Band 7 packs a lot of features and an impressive battery life for just $50, but how does it compare to Garmin's own fitness tracker, the Vivosmart 5? Both Zepp Health and Garmin have decided to launch new fitness trackers in 2022 after a few years on hiatus. Garmin's last fitness tracker was released back in 2018 while the last Amazfit band was launched in 2020.
The arrival of the fitness trackers are a welcome addition considering both brands have already made several smartwatch announcements this year. Garmin's 2022 wearable lineup so far includes the high-end Fenix 7 and Quatix 7 series, the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955, the Vivomove Sport hybrid smartwatch, and the Venu 2 Plus. Zepp, on the other hand, has launched three new Amazfit GTS watches, the Amazfit Bip 3 series, and the Amazfit T-Rex 2 rugged smartwatch.

There is no mistaking the Amazfit Band 7 for the Vivosmart 5 as they are strikingly different. The former has a large rectangle-like design while the latter has a more compact form factor. The Amazfit Band 7 is available in Beige and Black while Garmin's Vivosmart 5 can be purchased in Black, Cool Mint, and White. Both bands have a 5 ATM water resistance rating and users can choose to replace the straps whenever they want.
When Garmin announced its fitness tracker in April 2022, one of the main upgrades touted was the larger display. However, the 0.8-inch monochrome OLED display pales in comparison to the 1.47-inch color AMOLED screen on the Amazfit Band 7.
