The Apex Legends Global Series Playoffs are all over, and one of the most exciting additions this year was the Multiview feature, which changed how fans can watch the action. Along with updates to the UI that show teams’ loot, viewers were treated to huge quality of life updates that are long overdue.
However, it was noticeable that the improvements were only available in the EMEA and NA regions, despite big fanbases across the world and tournaments occurring in APAC North, APAC South, and South America. These latter three regions are streamed on other channels and platforms, rather than the official Apex Legends Twitch channel, and ALGS commissioner and senior director of Apex Legends competitive gaming John Nelson cites this as one of the reasons the new features were only available when watching certain tournaments.

“We had initially designed Multiview to debut as part of our global broadcast for an in-person ALGS Split 1 Playoffs,” he explains to TheGamer. “With Playoffs pivoting to an online regional format, we’re only able to incorporate the Multiview experience as part of our North America and EMEA broadcasts at this time.
“We made a significant investment in the hardware at our studio to deliver this new feature to our broadcasts. While we’re confined to Multiview on EA channels due to these physical constraints, we hope to make Multiview a mainstay for all future ALGS broadcasts.”
Nelson also tells us that he hopes to bring the feature to new regions in the future, although doesn’t elaborate as to whether this would be possible at online competitions or only at in-person tournaments which would place teams from every region in one lobby.
