It took years after the release of Alan Wake before Remedy Entertainment could return and bring out a proper sequel. The game development team had previously tried to deliver a game installment to keep the narrative going for Alan Wake; however, nothing quite lined up in their favor. Instead, they went on to create games like Quantum Break and Control. However, since the release of Control, the developers were finally able to pick Alan Wake back up and deliver a new game for fans. Now that this Alan Wake 2 game is finally available, the development studio is crediting the folks over at Epic Games for giving them the creative freedom required to deliver such an acclaimed hit.
Recently, Thomas Puha, the communications director for Remedy Entertainment, took to their X account and thanked Epic Games for publishing Alan Wake 2. According to Thomas, Epic Games was incredibly supportive and allowed the development team to make the game they wanted. This is undoubtedly a positive for a developer. Typically, a publisher could make some requests on the game development process. However, with Epic Games giving the reigns over to the development team, the game was developed from the creative ideas from Remedy Entertainment rather than the studio having to make different adjustments to ensure the game met the publisher’s expectations.
Shoutout to @EpicPublishing They let us make the game we wanted. Nothing but supportive. Epic's production team especially KILLED it on Alan Wake 2. They really care. Never have I read so much good feedback from milestones and have producers play so much of the game constantly.
