Nintendo has announced that it will delay the release of. But the usual reason of quality and polish wasn’t cited. Instead, the company, without directly saying, pointed toward Russia’s recent invasion Ukraine as the culprit.
After being delayed out of 2021, the reboots of the classic games were set to release on April 8, but will be pushed back into an as of yet unidentified release window. In a tweet on the matter, Nintendo noted that “in light of recent world events,” it was decided that it would be best to delay the release.
In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on April 8th. Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date.

While the tweet is a bit vague, Nintendo is very likely talking about the ongoing conflict in Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country. and are both military tactics games, and feature various militaristic items, including tanks, helicopters, and more in them, so it is not too surprising as to why the company decided to hold off on the release.
The move comes following Nintendo also deciding to suspend the eShop in Russia, which it noted was due to the company being unable to process payment in Russian rubles. For those that may have pre-ordered, Nintendo will be cancelling pre-orders and issuing refunds where necessary.
