Following Breakpoint’s final update, the next Ghost Recon is reportedly not far off
A new Ghost Recon game is in development at Ubisoft and could release within the next year, according to a new report.
Kotaku claims that following the final update to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Ubisoft’s Paris studio is working on the next entry in the franchise.
The next game, codenamed “OVER”, has been in development for over a year and could release during Ubisoft’s 2023 fiscal year, which runs until next April, according to Kotaku.
Kotaku also claims that Ghost Recon Frontline, the free-to-play Warzone-like game revealed as part of Ghost Recon’s 20th-anniversary stream, has undergone a “reset” following negative fan feedback.
Kotaku is also reporting that following the negative reception to Ubisoft Quartz, an NFT initiative that the company debuted last year, the team behind the NFT has “mostly quiet internally following the initial backlash to its controversial experiment.”
Ubisoft has formally ended development support for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
In a message posted on the game’s Twitter account this week, Ubisoft said the game would not receive any further content updates.
“The last four months marked the release of our final piece of content: the brand new Operation Motherland mode, tons of new items including 20th anniversary iconic outfits and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint,” the message read.
“We will continue to maintain our servers for both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint and we truly hope you will continue to enjoy the game and have fun playing in solo or co-op with your friends.
“From the entire Ghost Recon team, we want to thank you again for your continued support and love you have for the franchise. The feedback you’ve given for Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been instrumental and will help
