A new report claims Wildlands and Breakpoint developer Ubisoft Paris is producing another Ghost Recon game that could hit stores by the end of Fiscal Year 2023. This rumor makes the rounds just one day after the studio announced plans to cease post-launch support on Ghost Recon Breakpoint, a title whose troubles were further compounded by Ubisoft's integration of NFT-based content late last year.
The Ghost Recon brand reentered the spotlight with the 2019 release of Wildlands. While the Bolivia-set experience launched to lukewarm reception, Ubisoft Paris' post-launch efforts managed to turn the tide. The hope was that Breakpoint would avoid such growing pains, but the lack of AI companions, missing gameplay features, and a slew of performance issues quickly saw the tactical shooter lose favor among even the most ardent Ghost Recon fans. Over time, these problems and others were addressed in free content updates, resulting in Breakpoint slowly gaining some steam. However, Ubisoft effectively squandered hope for the title's full redemption upon unveiling the ill-received Quartz marketplace for NFTs. No one should count Ghost Recon out just yet, though.

Sources who spoke to Kotaku claim Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint developer Ubisoft Paris entered development on a new entry in the series more than a year ago. Notably, the game, codenamed OVER, previously featured in the September 2021 Nvidia leak. Should Kotaku's sources prove accurate, the next major Ghost Recon installment could hit store shelves during Fiscal Year 2023, which starts on July 1, 2022 and concludes next summer on June 30, 2023.
