Marvel Studios' upcoming She-Hulk show will see the highly anticipated return of Emil Blonsky's Abomination in the MCU, a return that could fix criticisms leveled at Avengers: Endgame's Smart Hulk. When She-Hulk was officially confirmed in December 2020 at Disney's Investor Day, Marvel President Kevin Feige also confirmed the return of both Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Tim Roth as the Abomination alongside Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk. These two characters have a history, appearing as mutual enemies in The Incredible Hulk.
Since the release of The Incredible Hulk in 2008, its links to the MCU have been fairly minimal, likely due to the recasting of the Hulk with Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton. Only the late William Hurt's Thaddeus Ross is the only other character who has appeared in other MCU projects since then. However, in 2021, a surprise Abomination cameo in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings reintroduced Abomination to the MCU preempting his promised return in She-Hulk. Since then, speculation has been rampant around how this character will feature in She-Hulk, given his villainous MCU origins and morally ambiguous turn in Shang-Chi.

Hulk, on the other hand, is a central character in the MCU that has changed a lot since his origins in 2008. Due to rights issues with Universal Pitcures, Marvel Studios have been unable to release solo films centering on the Hulk, instead opting to give Hulk a specific character arc across multiple other movies in ensemble roles. Beginning with Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, and continuing through Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner's evolution as Hulk
