Arc System Works is one of the very few game development studios that managed to do the Dragon Ball series justice with its Dragon Ball FighterZ, and it seems like there's a small chance that another popular anime and manga franchise, One Piece, will get the same treatment.
Speaking with IGN during last week's EVO Japan tournament, Arc System Works CEO Minoru Kidooka was asked about a potential One Piece fighting game, saying that such a game is something to think about, as the developer wants to work with other people and IPs to create fun games that would be well received by players. While he cannot confirm whether a One Piece fighting game will ever be made by the studio, it's definitely a possibility, although they have to consider each project carefully as they are a small studio and need to take their own resources into account.
Alongside talking about a potential One Piece fighting game, the Arc System Works CEO commented on the BlazBlue series, another popular series from the studio which hasn't seen a new release in a long time. The franchise, apparently, is not done, but they don't want it to compete with Guilty Gear, so when it will come back, it will be a game that will have a strong impact like the one Guilty Gear Xrd had.
Much like the Dragon Ball franchise, many One Piece games have been released in the past. The latest of them is One Piece Odyssey, a solid but not exceptional JRPG featuring an original story and turn-based combat. You can learn more about the game by checking out Kai's review.
