The folks over at Nintendo had a very successful run with their Nintendo Switch platform. After the Nintendo Wii U failed, the company returned to the drawing board rather quickly. Fortunately, thanks to their quick work, they were able to turn things around with the Nintendo Switch, but we’re now looking onward to see what is next. In terms of console lifecycles, the Nintendo Switch is on its way out the door, and something new will be taking its place.
Unfortunately, nothing official has been revealed just yet. It could be a good while before anything notable is unveiled as well. But a new job listing that was recently discovered suggests that the company is nearing the end of developing a new console. Thanks to a report from Gamerant, we’re finding out about a job listing for a system developer based in Japan. In particular, the listing notes that they are seeking a senior engineer to help support a big game company based out of Kyoto.
The listing notes that this would aid in the work going into a next-generation console. Furthermore, it looks like this would also assist with customer feedback. So the consensus is that there will be a focus group to check out this latest-generation console coming from Nintendo. Then the feedback would be used to make last-minute changes before settling on the unit for mass production. That could mean we’re relatively close to the next-generation Nintendo console and, with it, likely some teases of what players could expect.
