The second and final season of Arcane, the animated League of Legends adaptation, is set to arrive in November. The first substantial trailer was released last month, and it mostly focused on the conflict between Vi, Caitlyn, and Jinx. On Sunday, Netflix posted a new teaser focused on Ekko and Heimerdinger.
Ekko is the leader of the Firelights, a street gang in Zaun and resistance group against the Piltover enforcers. He encountered Heimerdinger, the disgraced former head of the Piltover Council, in the Yordle’s time of need. The two of them are now working together. The teaser shows them infiltrating a Council property. Ekko points out that Heimerdinger technically owns the property, but with the political situation being so tense, it seems that they’re not willing to risk an encounter with the enforcers.
There are a lot of moving parts in Arcane’s second season. The Council’s status is unknown after Jinx’s attack on Piltover, but they are presumed dead. A civil war is brewing between the cities of Zaun and Piltover, and the forces of Noxus are moving in to interfere at the behest of Mel’s mother, the warlord Ambessa Medarda.
Ekko and Heimerdinger may not be on the front lines of that war, but it’s clear that they have their own part to play in the coming conflict. Ekko has a lot of history with both Vi and Jinx, and we’ll have to see how that dynamic resolves. There’s also still the threat of a furious werewolflike creature lurking in the shadows.
Arcane season 2 is set to be released in November.
