9.2 Campaign Lore Spotlight: Firim, the Broker Formerly Known as Al'firim

The following article contains mild spoilers from Chapter 1 of 9.2's main story campaign. In the first chapter of Secrets of the First Ones — 9.2's main storyline, we meet the Broker Firim, an Enlightened (well, not quite, he was exiled) and one of our new best friends in Zereth Mortis. But who is Firim? Did you know we've heard plenty about this Broker already? Firim, formerly Al'firim, is infamous in the Shadowlands.

Known as «the Mad Scribe», he lead the expedition to find the Sepulcher of the First Ones. After discovering a clue to the location of the Sepulcher, Al'firim, a gifted codebreaker, began to work on decyphering this clue — an investigation he details in his Expedition Report A37J, which can be found in-game within the Tazavesh dungeon.

As Al'firim gained a greater and greater understanding of Sepulcher, the First Ones, and the nature of the universe itself, his reports back to his cartel became more and more incoherent, until Cartel Al finally labeled him a heretic and wrote off any who joined his expedition as doomed. By dropping the «Al» from his name, Firim shows that he is no longer affiliated with Cartel Al, and is rather his own Broker.
