While there have been an immense variety of items available in games over the years, there have also been several cool items developed that never made it into the final products. Of course, items aren't the only things to be left behind in development; entire beta Pokémon have gone unused in the past, for better or worse. But beyond the potential additions to the world, these cut items also often hint at encounters and mechanics which could have made playing their respective games very different experiences.
It is not uncommon to find remnants of unused features in a game’s code, and the games are practically littered with unused items with various levels of functionality. These can be placeholders, scrapped versions of other objects, or even entirely new objects. Items can often reveal a lot about the world, for instance, battle items can hint at possibly unrevealed Pokémon, while other items can shed light on the technological and cultural landscape of each region. But beyond the potential additions to the setting, these cut items also often hint at encounters and mechanics that could have made playing their respective games very different experiences.

The Maximizers are an all-Pokémon band encountered in. Consisting of an Obstagoon, Rillaboom, and two Toxitricity (one Amped Form and one Low Key Form), they can be seen performing during the game’s ending credits. In the postgame, they can be found in Hulberry, where this performance (and the rest of the credits) can be rewatched.
